
Thomas Flores
Thomas Flores is entering his 1st year at Valencia High School. He comes to us after 6 years at Golden Valley High School and has 27 years of experience in education, 16 years with the Hart District. Mr. Flores entered the field of education with 7 years of experience with the Boys and Girls Club of Fullerton and the Boys and Girls Club of Cypress. Over time, Mr. Flores has accumulated over 12 years of coaching experience in various sports such as baseball, basketball, and track and field. He graduated with his BA from Cal State Los Angeles and graduated with his Masters from the University of La Verne. He first entered the field of education with the Fullerton School District and was with them for 7 years with two of those years as a sixth grade teacher at Valencia Park Elementary School. In 1999, he and his wife of two years moved to Santa Clarita and were both hired by the Saugus School District. After three years of teaching at Helmers Elementary School, Mr. Flores joined the Hart District at Placerita Junior High School. During his tenure at Placerita, Mr. Flores taught ELD, History, and English. He was also selected as Placerita’s Teacher of the Year in 2004. In 2004, he left Placerita to become Assistant Principal at Sierra Vista Junior High in Canyon Country. In 2011, he was fortunate enough to spend ½ his time at La Mesa Junior High School. He has experience working with the ELD program and ELD Development, ASB, Facilities, Circle of Friends, Professional Development, Intervention, Special Education, Safe School Plan, Safe School Ambassadors, Facilities, Curriculum Development, etc. He also enjoys spending his time at home with his wife, his daughter Hayley and his two younger boys, Justin and Jordan.
